I created Scribit because I never found a good writer’s group—a real community to learn, get support, and be allowed to find the pleasure in writing.
Scribit is open to everyone, an ad-free haven where friendships form as we grow creatively. Whether you’re a seasoned author or just starting out, Scribit is your creative home.

We’re all writers here
I’m Lorinda, the creator and CEO of SCRIBIT. Although born in Los Angeles, I grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland. I earned my master’s degree in English at Dundee University before moving to New York in 2000. In 2020, I took a three-year cultural ‘timeout’ in the Netherlands, returning to New York in 2023, when I started working on the idea that would become SCRIBIT.
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, and searched a community that would provide support and encouragement. However, the groups I found fell short-they were either too simplistic, too scattered, filled with advertisements, or prohibitively expensive.
During my time in the Netherlands, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create an online community that would foster creativity, communication, and collaboration in all forms of writing.
SCRIBIT is designed to support writers of all kinds, whether you’re aiming to craft the next bestselling novel, family stories, a poem, or any other writing. My goal is for SCRIBIT and its community to be a source of inspiration and support. I’m committed to continuously improving the platform based on user feedback.
